Michael
Garcia: Michael has a very diversified dance background which
includes Hip-Hop, Step, Salsa/Mambo, Cha Cha, Merengue, Rumba, and Samba.
He has assisted in classes at La Salsa De Hoy Dance Studio and has moved
to teaching at the C.C.A.P. Summer Youth Program during the Summer of
2002. He begun his mambo dancing career at the age of 12 with his mother
(Sharon Garcia) along side of him while going to the Salsa De Hoy Dance
Studio in Brooklyn, New York. Michael was fortunate enough to have Joe
Delgado and Cecilia Williams (a.k.a. Cee Cee) as his first Mambo Instructors. Influenced
by the style of Latin dancing, Michael kept going to classes and was
the youngest in the adult classes on Friday nights. Advancing his talents
he began to study under Ray Colon in the Saturday night classes at la
salsa de hoy. He was later introduced to the world of performing
groups when he began attending social dances. A short time afterwards,
Carlos Vasquez, the owner of La Salsa De Hoy Dance Studio placed him
in his student Dance Troup with other teens his age to perform at local
events. Besides being a member of the Addie-tude Dance Company, Michael
has been a part of La Salsa De Hoy's Dance Troup (Director: Carlos Vasquez),
Tropical Image Dancers (Director Arelis Beato) and The Revelation
Dancers (Director: Cecilia Williams). At 14 Michael is currently the
youngest member to ever have joined the Addie-Tude Dance Company. Later forming
his own group, God's Glory Dancers with teens in his church,
he began to open up doors for Clergy and Community members
around him. At Age 19 Michael Has formed another group Center Of Attention,
Dancing Hip Hop. He began choreographing routines to Inspire and install
growth in the youth around New York. With Best friend Brigido Rosado,Also
a dancer in the group Center Of attention, Michael Co-Managed
A young Hip hop group with the same heart for dance as his, named Growin'
Painz. Though young in age he is respected by his peers for his dancing
skills, his maturity and for his hard work ethics.
