Spring/Summer 2003 • Vol IX, No II
Manny Siverio, one of HOLA’s most notable hyphenates (actor-stuntman-stunt coordinator-dancer), just added more talents to his resume. After studying film editing, he just produced, directed, shot and edited Addie Diaz’s music video “Mi Amiga.” [Editor’s note: I have seen it. It is quite good.] As a stuntman, he worked in San Juan Puerto Rico for the film Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights, as well as the TV series “One Life To Live” (ABC) and Third Watch (NBC). As a stunt coordinator, he worked on a national Nike Commercial (which used fifty video cameras simultaneously to create a Matrix-style effect; the feature films Indocumentados (which he got through an HOLA referral), Knots and Brooklyn; the reshoots for the John Leguizamo project Infamous (released as Undefeated where he is also the Second Unit Director); the student film High Crimes; the TV pilot “E.D.N.Y.” and the film short Push. As a dancer, he will soon be traveling to Los Angeles for the West Coast Salsa Congress premiere of the mambo musical Latin Madness as well as participate in the West Coast Salsa Congress with the Addie-tude Dance Company. Finally, he is featured and quoted throughout the book The Murdering Of My Years, written by Mickey Z (a.ka. Mickey Zezima) and published by Soft Skull Press.

Spring/Summer 2002 • Vol XIII, No XII
Manny Siverio e-mailed us this report: “I’ve worked as a stunt coordinator on the feature films Shelter Island (with Stephen Baldwin, Ally Sheedy and Chris Penn), The Last Request (with Barbara Feldon), Apartment 5C, Nadezdha, Hebrew Hammer (with Adam Goldberg and Andy Dick), Party Monster (with Macaulay Culkin and Wilmer Valderrama), Invitation to a Suicide, and the student films The Birthday and The Dead Can’t Dance.” In addition, he worked as a stuntman on two episodes of “The Job” (ABC) and the films The Farm (released as The Recruit with Al Pacino) and Analyze That (where he did a prison fight scene with Robert DeNiro). You can catch his work currently in Hollywood Ending and Spiderman. The multitalented actor, stuntman, filmmaker and dancer is also filming a documentary on the New York mambo scene and has just come back from performing a mambo gig with the Addie-tude Dance Company (founded by Addie Díaz) in Switzerland as part of the first annual Zurich Salsa Kongress [sic].

Fall/Winter 2002 • Vol. IX, No.II
Manny Siverio e-mailed us to say that he worked as the stunt coordinator of John Leguizamo’s HBO film project Infamous, as well as the films María Full of Grace, Death of a Dynasty, Bomb the System, The Station Agent, the Woody Allen Summer Project 2002, a commercial for Panasonic Shaver and an episode of “Absolutely Fabulous” (BBC/Comedy Central). In addition, he also worked as a stuntman on episodes of “OZ” (HBO) and “Third Watch” (NBC) and the film Anger Management. Finally, he appeared opposite Addie Díaz, Herb Quiñones and Rich Ramírez in the latest run of the hit mambo musical Latin Madness.

Summer/Fall 2001-2001 • Vol XIII, No X
Manny Siverio, no stranger to this section, reports this bochinche: “I was the stunt coordinator on the film Ash Wednesday (with Ed Burns), two episodes of ‘One Life to Live’ (ABC), Woody Allen's Spring Project 2001, the films Washington Heights (with Manny Pérez and Judy Reyes) and Super Troopers, a music video with Lil Kim and Phil Collins (yep, you read right, Lil Kim and Phil Collins) and a pogo stick photo shoot advertisement for a Japanese investment company.” In turn, he was hired as a stuntman on The Royal Tenenbaums, Spiderman, Stuart Little 2, "Late Show with David Letterman" (CBS), a national Pentium 4 commercial (where he doubled for one of the Blue Man Group members), an episode of "The Sopranos" (HBO), three episodes of "Oz" (HBO), an AT&T Wireless commercial, Bacardí European commercial and an episode of "Third Watch" (NBC). It was this last credit where he doubled an actor going out of a store window onto a squad car... and he picked up five stitches. Manny says, “For those out there who want to do stunts, remember that even when you do it right you can get hurt.” For more information, log on to his website www.mannysiverio.com.

Fall 1999 Issue • Vol XIII, No IV
The months go by and Manny Siverio racks up jobs like a master billiard player. His stunt coordinator credits include: State & Maine; Song Catcher; Last Ball; Girl Fight; UPN/WWF commercial; Lauryn Hill Music Video; Happy Accident; Two Family House; Blue Moon;. Kevin Spacey Untitled '99 project; Bearclaw; Double Parked;. While She was Out; Under Suspicion; Julien; Other Voices. His stunt credits also reflected: Ugly Coyote; Third Watch;. The Beat Goes On; 28 Days ; All My Children; Jesus's Son; Company Man and Oz. What a terrific write up he received this past May in the San Juan Star covering all his disciplines from martial arts to salsa dancing to stunts. Manny favored us with an anecdote. While on the set of Girl Fight, he struck up a conversation with a fellow actress and Latina. He was barely able to begin mentioning his name when she finished it by saying... "Manny Siverio, I know you from reading the HOLA newsletter." How nice!

Spring/Summer Double Issue, 1999 • Vol XIII, No III

Excerpt of Felix Pitre's HOLA's 25th Anniversary Party at The Players Club
"Just when I thought I was lost in a maze of past auditions I bumped into Manny Siverio, stunt man/actor, a rugged, handsome and appealing young man who was remarkably well spoken for someone who probably had been tossed out of more windows than a pan of dirty basin water in a Fellini flick. He spoke intelligently about the support that HOLA provides for Latinos trying to break the barriers both in front and behind the cameras." Spring 1998
Stunt Specialist and actor, Manny Siverio, is featured in an article about successful Latinos in the March issue of Hispanic Magazine. In fact he's been in a few lately: Salsaweb On-Line Magazine, Brooklyn Eagle, Gallery Magazine, Backstage, Street News and Curio Magazine. Action pictures are all the rage now, in fact even some of the most staid of movies feature stunts that require professional expertise. The following titles reflect Manny's last six months of activity: On the Run, For Richer or Poorer, Scarred City, Oz, Dellaventura, New York Undercover, Stringer, Sammy the Bull, Late Night with David Letterman. There's more - Manny coordinated stunts for : Safe Men, I-95, Frogs & Snakes, He Got Game, HBO Autospy IV, Dark Harbor, The Call Back, New York Undercover, Better Living (Co-coordinator) Row Your Boat.

Winter 1997
Manny Siverio is in Maine where he is stunt coordinating Dark Harbor. He reports recent stunt activity for: On the Run, For Richer or Poorer, Scarred City, Oz, Dellaventura, and New York Undercover. As a stunt coordinator, Manny worked: Safe Men, I-95, Frogs and Snakes, He Got Game, Don't, Marshman Farms, Side Streets, and HBO Autopsy IV. Manny also turned us onto a new website aptly named Salsaweb. Any one interested can download a very interesting article featuring him at http://www.salsaweb.com/manny

Fall 1997
Manny Siverio is wearing his stunt coordinator hat again in Don't. Yes, that's the title. He's still gushing over being honored at the Annual Latino Recognition Night Fest at the Screen Actors Guild.

Summer 1997
Manny Siverio was the Guest of Honor at SAG's Latino Recognition Night festivities in New York this past May 27, 1997. Manny flew in from Los Angeles to receive the honor and to speak to a very appreciative audience of his adventures as a much in demand "Latino" stunt performer. Manny showed style and a keen sense of humor while narrating video excerpts of his hair raising stunts. The event is produced yearly by the New York SAG Ethnic Employment Opportunities Committee. Manny currently can be caught beating up a security guard in the new HBO series, OZ. He is due to have his head blown off (by a clever camera trick) in another episode. At this writing Manny reports he's been hired to be the stunt coordinator on Frogs & Snakes.

Late Winter & Spring, 1997
Manny Siverio is now listed as a bona-fide Puerto Rico Stunt Coordinator published in the new Puerto Rico filmmakers resource guide. Among the credentials and news clippings Manny offered to validate his standing, were items appearing in this column. Back in LA, Manny helped rehearse fight scenes for BLADE: The Vampire Hunter, a movie to be shot later this Spring. When in NY he regularly doubles Michael DeLorenzo or provides good measure of stunt work for other principals in New York Undercover. In the April/May issue of Curio Magazine, look for an article about Manny and his activities as New York’s premier Latino Stuntman, 2nd Unit Director, martial arts expert, writer and actor. He sure wears a lot of hats.

Fall and early Winter, 1996
Manny Siverio, busy as always, stunted for Swift Justice, New York Undercover, Law & Order, Ransom, Prince Street, Path To Paradise, Extreme Measures, Jungle to Jungle, One Night Stand, Men in Black, Peacemaker, Good to Go, Angel in Harlem, Woo, Copland, Full Court Press, Great Expectation, Kicked in the Head and as an actor in The Deli. Manny is one of the very few active Latino stuntmen (or women) in this business. With increase in theatrical productions featuring Latinos, his skills are in high demand. Readers of this column can attest to his
other ability as either a stunt coordinator or co-coordinator. Recent credits reflect: The First Wives Club, The Associate, A Further Gesture, The Animal Room, New York Undercover, Aliens in the Family (sitcom), Preacher’s Wife, Get on the Bus, One Fine Day, Office Killer, Kiss Me Guido, Arresting Gena, Puppet and Love Walks In, plus Wrigley’s and AT&T commercials. All this is to say there is room for the athletically inclined Latino man & woman to consider this area as a career choice. Manny is ready to lend a hand to those who feel qualified and are excited about the prospect of performing stunts in films. Call HOLA if you’re interested. Before going to press, Manny wrote to say he’s just become a member of the DGA-having helmed as second unit director for Further Gesture and Puppet.

Summer 1996
Manny Siverio, ever Michael DeLorenzo’s stunt double on NY Undercover, filled in a day as the stunt coordinator on Gasoline Alley and stunted for Whoopi Goldberg’s Eddy and Woody Allen’s "Fall" Project. A recent letter from Manny read..."Believe it or not, I already got a call from a casting director, who wanted to meet me because he saw my head shot in the new directory. It was this that confirmed my faith in the importance of HOLA as a beacon for Hispanic/Latino
performers. I am always happy to see other Latino performers on set. I get even greater joy when I know that they are members of HOLA.

Spring 1996
Manny Siverio’s Manny Siverio’s principal and stuntman career continues to chug right along with the season opener role in New York Undercover, stunt work for Independence Day; doubling Nick Tuturro in NYPD Blue, doubling for Michael DeLorenzo; fight instructor for Gasoline Alley, had his foot suffer spontaneous combustion on Late Night with David Letterman-
Isabella Rosalini doused the fire. Some guys have all the luck! Manny has a video and book deal cooking with Black Belt Magazine.

Winter 1995
Aside from his regular gigs on New York Undercover, Manny Siverio coordinated stunts for The Adventures of Pete & Pete and The Animal Room. He worked as a stuntman in Nightfalls on Manhattan. His agenda also included crashing out of a glass window in High School High (LA), coordinated for Animal Room and A Further Gesture. It sure pays to be athletic in this business.

Stunted for Me and My Shadow and prepped for
I Shot Andy Warhol. It sure pays to be one of the few Latino stunt persons living on the East Coast. By the way, Manny’s hair raising stunt falling backward from atop of a New York tenement building is featured in The Basketball Diaries currently in release.

January, February & March 1995
Rough & tumble actor and stunt specialist Manny Siverio doubled for Michael DeLorenzo on two episodes of New York Undercover and finished stunt coordinating for Stonewall, then the same for Captive; followed as Assistant Stunt Coordinator for Dead Presidents. Manny’s previous bochinche mentioned that he was the stunt coordinator for Someone Else’s America, well the director took a shine to him and gave him a principal role during a fight sequence. June saw him in LA shooting two additions to Manny’s Martial Art Instructional Video Series. Look for the November, 1994 edition of Martial Art Training Magazine, it features an article written by Manny.

May-June 1994
Manny Siverio, originally contracted to stunt double another (not yet hired) actor in the movie Basketball Diaries, so impress the director with his acting ability that he cast him in that role. Manny performed a stunt for his character that called for him to fall backwards from a roof, 65 ft. down into an airbag. The stunt was covered by Fox 5 News. The film New Jersey Drive also used Manny’s talents, he doubled in a prison fight scene and a neighborhood riot scene. There’s

Wait that’s not all, Manny has had some real success in screenwriting. Both Paramount and HBO are interested in his efforts so far. March 1993
Manny Siverio appears in the role of Sledge in the movie NEW YORK COP, which shot in the city during November and December. He also worked as a stuntman in WHO’S THE MAN. Additionally he has recently wrote a script for Star Trek: The Next Generation, which was accepted for development, and he is now a freelance writer for the show. He has also authored a five tape instructional video series with Panther Productions out in San Clemente. He worked a day on America’s Most Wanted.

February 1992
Manny Siverio, a New York based stuntman and a member of Stunt Specialists, keeps a hot hand in the industry. In September he was part of an angry crowd of neighbors on Law & Order that got shoved to the ground by the police. In October he was a jewelry store patron in Close to Eden who had to evade a taxicab as it came crashing into the store. In Spike Lee’s Malcom X he was a torch-wielding Black Legion Klansman and a horseback-riding Klansman. In November he was in a club riot in Fly by Night and he doubled for Joe Pesci in The Super. Manny was the fellow who came crashing through the ceiling of Pesci’s apartment and landed on a dinning room table.
